EUREKA

Phoenix Surowce Sp. z o.o. is implementing a project under the EUREKA 2022 competition as part of a consortium that includes: Łukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements PIAP and Warsaw University of Technology.

Agreement No: EUREKA/2022/AI-Rec/97/2023

Institution where the application was submitted: National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR)

Project title: Artificial Intelligence-Assisted, Safe, and Environmentally Friendly Recycling of Hard Drives [acronym: AI-REC]

Project description:

The aim of the project is to develop an innovative set of solutions that ensure safe, environmentally friendly, and economically efficient recycling of hard drives, particularly those with magnetic data storage (HDDs). The research places particular emphasis on developing solutions for guaranteed secure destruction of sensitive data using magnetic fields (HDDs) or electric fields (SSDs). The project includes preparing automated recycling through the disassembly and segregation of hard drive components. A key component of the disassembly technology will be a set of innovative solutions utilizing artificial intelligence, enabling the safe destruction of magnetic data carriers (disk platters) and efficient segregation of hard drive elements designated for recycling.

Total project cost: 1,439,455.00 PLN

EU funding: 1,198,287.25 PLN

Project implementation period: from 01.01.2024 to 31.12.2025.
